Here are some frequently asked questions about the Maple Road Dental Practice going private. |
| |
| WHY CAN'T I STAY AS AN NHS PATIENT? |
We can no longer maintain the standard of care or allocate the correct amount of time we feel is right under the current NHS fee scale. |
| |
| I PAY MY NATIONAL INSURANCE WHY CAN'T I HAVE NHS DENTISTRY? |
Out of your National Insurance only a matter of pence each month is directed to dentistry, you are also paying 80% of the NHS government charges for your dentistry. The cost of providing quality dental care is increasing beyond the NHS fee and in order to maintain and improve our service we feel that private dentistry with Denplan is the best way we can do this. |
| |
| IF THE NHS IS SO BAD WHY ARE YOU CONTINUING TO TREAT KIDS? |
It is some thing we feel we have to do for the long-term benefit of children's dental and general health. |
| |
| WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME I AM A LOYAL PATIENT AND BEEN COMING TO THIS PRACTICE FOR MANY YEARS? |
It is because you are a loyal patient and we value you as such that we are making this change in order to maintain and improve the service we can offer you and you deserve. |
| |
| DO YOU HAVE A PRICE LIST FOR INDIVIDUAL FEES? |
Yes. There is an outline fee guide on the website or at reception |
| |
| CAN I CONTINUE TO SEE MY DENTIST WITHOUT JOINING DENPLAN? |
Yes. You can remain as a standard private patient and pay the appropriate fee for each item of treatment as it arises. There will of course no worldwide accident or emergency cover. |
| |
| HOW WILL MY TREATMENT BE BETTER THAN IT HAS BEEN UP TO NOW ON THE NHS? |
Your treatment will be to the same high standard that you are accustomed to but you will now greater choice of possible treatments available. We have always tried to use method and material far above the basic NHS minimum standard. We now have more time available to devote to prevention. |
| |
| WOULD YOU JOIN DENPLAN IN MY PLACE? |
Yes. With Denplan you will not face any unexpected bills and also benefit from the additional insurance and emergency cover. We feel it is an excellent scheme. Please look at their website. |
| |
| I'M ALREADY IN ANOTHER SCHEME EG HSA- DO I NEED DENPLAN COVER? |
We would recommend that you find out the cover limits your HAS provides you with and whether it is sufficient to cover the private fee scale. Whilst the limits may have been sufficient for the NHS rates you may find you have a considerable shortfall to meet and you may want to consider HAS scheme if you join Denplan. |
| |
| WILL THE CHARGES GO UP EACH YEAR? |
We review the charges each year to reflect any increased costs in running the practice. This fee increase would be effective from January 1st and we would give you two months written notice of any changes. |
| |
| IF I JOIN DENPLAN AND LATER WANT TO STOP, WHAT HAPPENS? |
You can cancel your direct debit instruction at any time by giving 21 days notice to Denplan and your dentist. You still remain a patient at the practice but would be liable for the full amount of any fees for treatment provided after the termination date of your Denplan contract |
