  Principal Dentist
Ian Hunt BDS MFGDP(UK)

Ian Hunt was born and educated in South Manchester. He went to Manchester University to study dentistry in 1986 obtaining his BDS in 1991 and started working part time at The Maple Road Practice soon afterwards as an associate for Mr Thomas and also at a practice in Burnage Manchester. Ian bought the practice in 1999 and is now there full time. Ian has a keen interest in the treatment of anxious and nervous patients using various sedation techniques. Ian is active in postgraduate education obtaining his membership of general dental practice in 2003 and 2006 being one of the first to obtain a diploma in restorative dentistry awarded by the Faculty of General Dental Practice. Ian is a tutor on the MJDF course at the university and is a member of the north west division of FGDP.

Ian is married to Andrea who is the Podiatrist/Chiropodist at the practice and they live in the Altrincham area. Ian Hunt is a keen dinghy sailor, member of a local gym and a Manchester City Fan.

 

  Associate Dentist
Pip Thomas BSc (Hons) BDS FDSRCS (Eng) MSc MFGDP(UK)

Pip Thomas was born and educated in South Wales. He came to Manchester to study dentistry in 1960 obtaining his BDS in 1966 having taken a BSc(Hons) in Physiology along the way. He spent a year as House Surgeon in a maxillo-facial unit in the midlands followed by two years in practice in Cardiff returning to Manchester Dental Hospital in 1969 as lecturer, during which time he he was awarded his FDSRCS and MSc, he so missed the continuous interaction with patients that he returned to general practice, first in Didsbury, Manchester and from 1980 at The Maple Road Dental Practice.

He has served for five years as Post Graduate Tutor at the Dental Hospital and for 15years on the Local Dental Committee having just retired as Chairman a position he held for 7 years. He is a Cardiff University Accredited expert witness working for both the General Dental Council and Dental Protection Ltd. Pip currently works two days a week in the practice.

His two main pastimes are rugby and golf. He is married with three children.

  Associate Dentist

Jill Jagger BDS DGDP(Eng)

Jill Jagger was born and educated in Bradford, Yorkshire. She graduated from Manchester in 1975 with BDS and stayed on a further 6 months as a House Officer. Since then she has worked as an associate in Altrincham, then as a lecturer at the Manchester Dental Hospital and as a Community Dental Officer. Jill joined The Maple Road Dental Practice in 1984 as an associate and attained her Diploma in General Dental Practice in 1993.

She was secretary of the Local Dental Committee for six years and is currently secretary of the Society of  Manchester Dental Alumni.

She is married with two grown up children. Her favourite occupations for "time out" are playing tennis for the local ladies team and hill walking with husband John.

 

  Associate Dentist

Stephen Roberts BDS

Stephen Roberts joined the practice in August 2006 and has become an integrated and valued member of the Maple Road Dental Practice team. He was born in Macclesfield but has lived in many areas of the country including Harrogate, N.Yorks and Morpeth, Northumberland. He has since returned to this area and completed his schooling in Macclesfield. Stephen went on to graduate from the University of Manchester with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree.

Professionally, Stephen has a keen interest in Restorative Dentistry and Endodontics, in the future he plans to undertake further training in Aesthetic Dentistry and Implants.

In his spare time, Stephen enjoys many hobbies including computers, hi-fi, reading and sports including football, golf, cycling and squash.

 

  Associate Dentist

Craig Jack BDS MFDS

Craig Jack joined us in December 2007 having returned to work in Manchester after spending 18months working in Blackburn in both hospital and general practice. He graduated from Manchester University and has recently achieved a Diploma membership of the facility of dental Surgery.
Craig is in the process of completing a part- time MSc in restorative Dentistry at the Dental Hospital in Manchester. He is currently accepting new patients to the practice and has an interest in restorative dentistry and treating nervous patients with sedation if required.

Craig is a keen rugby player and is a member of the Sale rugby club. Craig is engaged and getting married in the summer of 2009.

  Specialist in Oral Surgery and Implantologist

Mark Edmondson BDS FDSRCS (Eng)

Mark Edmondson was born in Rochdale. He graduated from Manchester Dental Hospital in 1991 and joined the East Lancashire Maxillofacial service in 1992. He received his dental fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1995 and won the Astratech implant scholarship in the year 2000.

He is registered on the specialist list for Surgical Dentistry, is a member of the Association of Dental Implantology and the European Association of Osseointegration, and is involved in the Astratech clinical research programme.

He is married with two children.

  Podiatrists

Andrea Hunt BSc (Hons) SRCh MSCh

Andrea Hunt was born in Manchester in 1968, later moving to Warrington where she spent most of her educated years. Graduated from Salford University School of Podiatry in 1997 with a BSc (Hons) in Podiatry. As a student she represented the Student body for the Society of Podiatrist and Chiropodist playing an active part in the Politics and Government issues surrounding Podiatric Practice. After graduating she worked as a Student Supervisor at the University and then to work for local Health Authority.

Andrea now works as a Private Practitioner at The Maple Road Dental Surgery.

Andrea is married and they have three children Thomas Alexander and Harriett. Her leisure time is taken up walking her dog- attending the gym and entertaining.

 

  Chiropodist
Tracy Liburd BSc (Hons)

Tracy was born in Didsbury, Manchester in 1974. In 1991, Tracy trained as a dental nurse and qualified in 1993, she worked with Ian Hunt in Burnage and subsequently at Maple Road Dental Practice in 1999.
In 2003, Tracy retrained at Salford University as a podiatrist and obtained a 1st class honours degree in 2006.

Tracy has two children, Grace and Evie. Apart from being a mother, Tracy enjoys socialising with friends, reading and going to the gym.

 

  Oral health educator

Sarah Cash

Sarah joined the practice 7 years ago as a trainee, when she moved from North Manchester. Once she completed her training she passed the National Dental Nurse exam in 2001.
She then went on to do a post qualification in oral health education which she passed in 2003.

Since becoming a qualified oral health educator Sarah regularly delivers oral health sessions here at the practice.

The hygienist's main role is to provide professional cleaning of the teeth for the patient. This is usually called scaling and polishing. However, perhaps their most important role is the education of the patient in the best way to keep the teeth free of plaque. Our hygienists work closely with the dentists and nurses to provide care tailored to your needs.
